Carro-bomba mata dez no Paquistão

Taleban promete mais ações - Pelo menos dez pessoas morreram e mais de 20 ficaram feridas depois da explosão de um carro-bomba em um posto policial da cidade de Peshawar, no Paquistão, neste sábado. De acordo com as autoridades locais, o veículo explodiu quando policiais se aproximavam para revistá-lo. O ataque ocorreu em Pishtakara, um dos principais pontos de entrada da cidade para quem vem das áreas tribais na fronteira com o Afeganistão.
"Eu vi que havia uma discussão com o motorista e, de repente, uma explosão me jogou no chão com estilhaços que me atravessaram as costas", contou o policial Malik Jehangir, que estava no posto. Pelo menos um dos mortos é um policial.
Imagens de TV mostraram uma grande coluna de fumaça sobre o bairro de Pushta Khara em Peshawar e os restos de vários carros.
Localizada perto da fronteira com o Afeganistão, Peshawar tem sido alvo de ataques desde o início da grande ofensiva do Exército paquistanês no Waziristão do Sul, a região considerada bastião do grupo radical islâmico Taleban no país. O grupo já reivindicou a autoria não só do atentado deste sábado como também do de sexta-feira (13), que devastou a sede do serviço secreto do Paquistão, conhecido como ISI, também em Peshawar. No ataque à sede do ISI, mais 17 pessoas morreram e quase 40 ficaram feridas.
"Nós assumimos a responsabilidade dos ataques suicidas nas barragens rodoviárias de Bannu e Peshawar e contra a ISI. Lançaremos tantos ataques que o presidente, o primeiro-ministro e o governador não poderão nem se sentar em seus palácios", afirmou por telefone à agência de notícias France Presse o porta-voz do Taleban paquistanês, Azam Tariq.

Em um comunicado, o ministro de Assuntos Exteriores paquistanês, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, afirmou que "atos de barbárie só conseguirão fortalecer o compromisso" do governo "de lutar contra o terrorismo".
O Paquistão é palco de uma onda sem precedentes de atentados, cometidos em sua maioria por suicidas do Movimento dos Talebans do Paquistão (TTP), que causaram 2.500 mortes em pouco mais de dois anos. Os ataques e atentados suicidas no noroeste paquistanês mataram mais de 400 pessoas em um mês.
